I’m flattered by all the expressions of gratitude I’ve received for my mental meanderings in this blog. But I would not make claim to the notion that I’ve changed thinking in the business world very much. I’m not even in the same cosmos when it comes to comparing my influence on business thinking with the influence that silly little doodle head Dilbert has had on how people in business think.
The Thinkers’ 50 published by the European Foundation for Management Development now ranks Dilbert the 12th most influential business thinker in the world, up from 27th last year. Really. I learned about this from Scott Adams’ new Dilbert blog. How can I not subscribe to Dilbert’s fountain of eternal wisdom? I’ve got to add Dilbert to my RSS feeds.
Here are the first 15 names on the Thinkers' 50 list of the 50 most influential business thinkers in the world (the numbers in parentheses are 2004 rankings):
1. Michael PORTER (2)
2. Bill GATES (20)
3. CK PRAHALAD (12)
4. Tom PETERS (3)
5. Jack WELCH (8)
6. Jim COLLINS (10)
7. Philip KOTLER (6)
8. Henry MINTZBERG (7)
9. Kjell NORDSTRÖM & Jonas RIDDERSTRÅLE (21)
10. Charles HANDY (5)
11. Richard BRANSON (34)
12. Scott ADAMS (27)
13. Thomas A. STEWART (37)
14. Gary HAMEL (4)
15. Chan KIM & Renée MAUBORGNE (31)
Speaking of RSS feeds, I’ve been trying to convert to my subscription list from Bloglet to FeedBlitz and have been having some trouble getting the task done properly. So, if you’re getting multiple notices of blog postings from, please bear with me.
